About Peter Coen

Peter Coen graduated in Management Sciences at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and became a lecturer in marketing research and international business. He founded The European Business School in London with partners in Paris and Frankfurt. Initially based at The City University, he established EBS in Regent’s Park as a founding institute of Regent’s College which later became Regent’s University. He lived and worked in Brussels and Rome and joined the United Nations where he initiated a UN-wide project to create a fresh blueprint for management development and cultural change. Increasingly convinced that there was a need for fundamental change, he established The Delphi Project to explore fresh thinking and new approaches to individual and organisational growth. He is married with three children.

Changing the World

The Delphi Project helps solve the complex problems which we face when we try to achieve something with, through or despite the efforts of other people. It has emerged from the day-to-day messy realities of managing, leading and serving in organisations and offers a blueprint for the individual who wants to change the way the world works.

The movement of the Change Cycle shows the dynamic, universalising effect of the action of consciousness on life through the intermediary of the conscious individual. As we grow, we change our relationships with others and help change the culture of the organisations of which we are part. At the global level this change then has a direct effect on the social, economic and political climate of the planet.

The sustained conscious transformation of the chemistry of our relationships transforms the culture of our organisations from within, thereby, in turn, transforming the ‘climate’ of the planet. Such a transformation from within is conscious growth.

Organisations

Beyond this movement from inner change to outward manifestation we have a further two-stage development – initially in the world of the organisation, and finally at the global level. An individual changing creation is a powerful agent of social change, emerging as a leader of a new way of working whereby the fundamental principles of organizational life are transformed as if through a genetic remake.

The creation of new global relationships can only come about through the transformation of the individual through the Individual Revolution required in the Polarity Grid. The only change, the urgent change, is therefore for each of us to seek that freedom and positivity which comes from the transformation in life of the ego – beginning, of course, with ourselves. This movement cannot be forced upon another, nor can it be achieved simply through personal effort which is so often a movement of the ego. This change comes through insight and revelation, which is seeing the falsity and negativity of the visible expressions of human life at the macro level (the relationships of nation states, global institutions and businesses), micro level (work relationships and even some personal links with family and friends) and at the inner level (where the individual is caught in a pattern of self-contradictory desires and impulses). We must see how our life within, in relationship, and in the organisations which we have created, is fragmented and that the structure of life is based on systemic conflict with its inevitable waste of energy and vitality. Then we will see that all organisational transformation must come from within.
